Introduction

FRAIMwork is transforming how small and medium-sized residential buildings across Europe are renovated. Millions of homes remain energy-inefficient, costly to heat and uncomfortable to live in, while traditional renovation processes are often too expensive and complex for building owners. Bringing together 16 organisations across five European countries, the project develops a smarter, faster and more affordable renovation approach that supports Europe’s transition to a low-carbon building stock.

Approach

The innovations behind FRAIMwork make the difference. Robotic systems, augmented reality guidance and smart prefabricated panels work together to make installation faster, safer and far less disruptive than conventional renovation. The system is designed to adapt to any building, whether terraced houses, corner buildings or semi-detached homes, even in tight urban streets with limited access. Residents stay in their homes throughout the process. No need to relocate, no months of noise and dust. Just a warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient home, installed in as little as two working days per building unit.

Our role

As a partner in the FRAIMwork project, we are working with 16 organisations across five European countries to develop a smarter, faster and more affordable way to renovate small and medium-sized residential buildings. The approach combines innovative prefabricated building elements, smart digital tools and practical business models, with a flexible frame and integrated framework designed for local contractors and the building owners they serve, regardless of the building type or configuration.
