Introduction

‍PERMIT-BOOST accelerates renewable energy permitting across Europe by developing a permitting observatory, AI-assisted guidance tools, and capacity-building programmes for authorities and developers. It tackles delays in project approvals, enhancing regulatory clarity and efficiency to support the REPowerEU targets for faster clean energy deployment.

Approach

‍The project maps permitting procedures in 10+ Member States, creates an interactive observatory dashboard, and delivers AI-powered tools for procedure identification, risk assessment, and optimised application strategies. Stakeholder co-creation ensures tools address real bottlenecks, with pilots in diverse regions, training for 500+ users, and policy recommendations for harmonised frameworks under the revised Renewable Energy Directive.

Our role

‍Th!nk E leads project management, communication, dissemination, and exploitation, coordinating the consortium, organising stakeholder workshops, and developing outreach materials like the website, factsheets, and final guidance handbook. It facilitates policy dialogues, ensures open access to tools/datasets, and drives long-term impact through national multipliers and EU-level advocacy.
