Introduction

JustREACH strengthens just climate resilience across European regions by empowering local and regional authorities to design, assess, and implement climate adaptation measures aligned with social justice, regional development, and smart specialisation strategies.

Approach

The project develops an Integrated Just Resilience Framework, innovative impact-assessment models, and the "JustREACH Prism" decision-support tool that retrieves tailored, place-based knowledge from EU adaptation andregional development platforms. Through co-creation with five pilot regions andsocial learning methods, the project helps authorities identify implementationbarriers, mobilise citizens, and avoid maladaptation.

Our role

Th!nk E co-leads WP5 on Pilot Sites of Just Resilience Missions, guiding pilotregions through the identification of decision-making gaps, assessment of localneeds, and co-design of implementation pathways that align climate adaptation with regional transformation and smart specialisation goals. It also leads the testing and refinement of the JustREACH Prism, ensuring the tool responds to real-world governance, community, and biophysical contexts, and that pilot outputs are inclusive, actionable, and transferable to other European regions.
